   More than 200 people have been killed in two landslides in southern Ethiopia, authorities sai d. The first landslide, triggered by heavy rains in a remote region of Gofa zone, occurred on Monday and was followed by a second one that buried people who had gathered to help, state officials said on Tuesday. At least 148 men and 81 women were killed after the disaster struck in the Kencho-Shacha locality in the Gofa Zone on Monday, the local Communications Affairs Department said in a statement. Ethiopian security forces have committed widespread attacks amounting to war crimes against medical professionals, patients, and health facilities in the Amhara region. Civilians are bearing the brunt of fighting between the Ethiopian military and Amhara militia known as Fano, which began in August 2023. Spanish photographer shot dead while filming TV documentary in Ethiopia The Catalan man was accompanying two popular Chilean presenters when two men opened fire on the television crew Catalan photographer and tourist guide Toni Espadas has been shot dead in Ethiopia while filming a documentary. Two individuals opened fire on the team of Partners of the World (Socios por el Mundo), a well-known Chilean television programme. The crew, including the Spanish photographer , were there to do a report on a tribe in Ethiopia. "As Canal 13, we deeply regret the death of Toni, and from a distance, we send his family all our support," the television station said. The other members of the filming crew were unharmed. They were filming the Mursi tribe, who were not the perpetrators of the attack. US envoy urges ceasefire, dialogue in Ethiopia conflict, Abiy Ahmed and OLA Response In a major policy address yesterday, United States Ambassador to Ethiopia Ervin J. Massinga called on all parties involved in the ongoing conflict to pursue "a temporary nationwide ceasefire" and inclusive political dialogue.     Massinga addressed the Oromo Liberation Army ( OLA ) in Oromia , stating, "You made a genuine effort to reach a deal at the negotiating table in Dar es Salaam. A Drone Strike on a School in North Shewa Zone Leaves Four People Killed and Another Five Injured, Including Teachers A drone strike on Gulo School located in Tirae Kebele of Kewet Woreda in North Shewa Zone of Amhara Region struck during a parent teacher association meeting according to eyewitnesses and family members of victims who spoke . The Gulo Primary School is located 20-km from Shewa Robit, administrative center of Kewet Woreda, where the drone strike happened at around 1:30 pm which left four people killed and an additional five injured. In the heart of Addis Ababa, the historic, ramshackle neighbourhood of Piassa once teemed with shops and cafes. People would come from across Ethiopia’s capital city to buy anything from jeans to jewellery. Today it lies in ruins. Its distinctive stone houses, with their wooden balconies and slanting metal roofs, are almost all gone. In their place are jagged fields of rubble, picked over by workers with sledgehammers. People stop to stare at the wreckage. Some take pictures. But they do not stay long: the ruins are guarded by police carrying clubs. “I’m angry,” says a former resident. “It’s my heritage that’s been destroyed in front of my eyes, without any consultation at all.
